Los Angeles Chargers Named Best Fit For Odell Beckham Jr.
Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are in need of some help at wide receiver, and Odell Beckham Jr. is still available. Sounds like a match could be in order.

At least that’s what Dan Pizzuta of The 33rd Team thinks.

Pizzuta has pitched the Chargers as the best possible landing spot for Beckham, who remains a free agent after spending the 2023 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens.

Los Angeles subtracted a pair of long-time receivers in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason, so its receiving corps could certainly stand to improve.

The Chargers did draft three wide outs in Georgia’s Ladd McConkey (second round), USC’s Brenden Rice (seventh round [and son of Jerry Rice]) and Michigan’s Cornelius Johnson (seventh round), but LA could obviously use some proven talent.

Not that Beckham is an elite pass-catcher at this stage of his career, but he would at least bring some potential stability to a wide receiver room that sorely needs it.

Beckham is coming off of a disappointing season in which he logged 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns with the Ravens. He served as Baltimore’s No. 2 receiver behind Zay Flowers, but wasn’t really able to shine in the team’s run-heavy offense.

Perhaps a connection with Justin Herbert would be just what the doctor ordered for Beckham?

The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the New York Giants with the 12th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Beckham made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with the Giants, but was traded to the Cleveland Browns in March 2018. He posted one 1,000-yard campaign in what was an overall underwhelming two-and-a-half year stint with the Browns. He was released in November 2021 and proceeded to sign with the Los Angeles Rams, where he helped the team win a Super Bowl title that winter.

The New Orleans native then sat out all of 2022 before joining the Ravens.

Odell Beckham Jr. will almost certainly sign somewhere, and the Chargers could ultimately present a great opportunity for him.
