It is always an embarrassing moment to miss an extra point but Detroit Kicker Riley Patterson has struggled this season.
There is a common expression in sports that the Kicker is one of the most unique positions in sports: no one even knows you exist until you start making mistakes. When you start making mistakes, you are going to draw more criticism that anyone around. Patterson is finding that out after he has missed two kicks this season from within 29 yards and has already missed an extra point against the Chicago Bears.
Riley Patterson how are you employed.

Patterson has actually had a solid season as he hasn’t missed from outside of thirty yards all season. The problem for Patterson is that he has missed two extra points and two field goals from less than thirty yards out. As a note, for the kick to be less than 30 yards based on the distance for the snap and the length of the end zone, the actual line of scrimmage would be within the 30-yard line.
Patterson will look to improve as the game goes on as Detroit leads the Bears 13-10.
