Kansas City Chiefs Jawaan Taylor Sets Wrong Kind Of Record In Win Over Dolphins
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night to advance to the divisional round. However, the win wasn’t pretty. The offense had the same problems they were having in the regular season. Dropped passes and untimely penalties caused the team to have to settle for field goals and keep Miami in the game. One of those penalties came from tackle Jawaan Taylor who set the wrong kind of record in the game.

Kansas City Chiefs Jawaan Taylor Penalties

Per Jeff Kerr of CBS, Taylor now holds the record for most penalties in a season by an offensive player since 2003 when Texans’ guard Chester Pitts had 18 total penalties. Holding and false start penalties have plagued the tackle this season. What makes this concern for the Chiefs is that they signed him to a four-year, $80 million contract this offseason. Taylor’s penalties have been a problem since week 1 and have continued throughout the season.

Offensive Line Issues

Everyone has been focused on the pass-catchers and for good reason. Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and many others have dropped passes throughout the season negating big plays. However, the offensive line has been just as big of a problem. Taylor has been the biggest culprit but the entire line has struggled overall. If the line doesn’t clean up their play, they could cost the Chiefs later in the playoffs.

It has been a season to forget for Kansas City Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor. The team may be regretting their signing but they are ultimately stuck with him for the near future.
