Juan Thornhill Heads to Cleveland
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

By James Jefferson

According to NFL Network inside Tom Pelissero, former Kansas City Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill is headed to the Cleveland Browns. The deal is reportedly for three years and $21 million with $14 million fully guaranteed. Thornhill accumulated 234 tackles, one sack, and eight interceptions in four seasons with the Chiefs.

The loss of Thornhill is hardly a surprise. The Chiefs drafted Cincinnati Safety, Bryan Cook a year ago in the second round. The rookie was outstanding for the Chiefs last year and was a key player in the postseason.  His emergence as an every-down player gave the Chiefs the confidence they could lose Thornhill in free agency.  Cook and Justin Reid form a young dynamic duo in the back of the KC’s defense. Though I would expect General Manager, Brett Veach, will add a veteran safety via free agency at some point. The loss of Thornhill does remove depth at the position.
