The Los Angeles Rams snapped their two-game losing streak with a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 , but it unfortunately came at a cost as Joseph Noteboom suffered a significant injury.

The left tackle was carted off the field in the second quarter with what was originally deemed an ankle injury. He was initially ruled doubtful to return but got downgraded to out in the third quarter.

Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed after the game that he feared Noteboom sustained an Achilles injury, which would be a major blow to an already-depleted offensive line.

According to ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry, Noteboom did unfortunately tear his Achilles’ tendon and will be out for the remainder of the 2022 season:

Noteboom re-signed with the Rams on a three-year, $40 million contract extension this past offseason and slid in as the team’s starting left tackle following Andrew Whitworth’s retirement.

The former backup did not play up to standards but was the team’s best option at the position. With the 27-year-old now out of the picture, Alaric Jackson could take over at left tackle, with Oday Aboushi shifting to right guard.

Noteboom joins a long list of injuries to the Rams offensive line as Brian Allen, David Edwards, Coleman Shelton and Tremayne Anchrum are all sidelined as well.
