Jordan Love in line for $500,000 bonus with win over Dallas Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers are getting ready to take on the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. For quarterback Jordan Love, this game and his performance going to have plenty of implications on his future, including financially.

In fact, if the Packers win the game, Love is going to be able to say he earned $500,000 from the game. That’s because, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Love’s contract has an escalator in it. Basically, winning the game and getting to the divisional round will add $500,000 to his contract for the 2024 season.

It’s not uncommon for NFL players to be playing for financial incentives. In the final two weeks of the season, players on struggling teams are often known to be playing for their own contract incentives, to try and maximize their earnings.

What is interesting, on the other hand, is that this is a team-based performance incentive. A win in the NFL is a team accomplishment, but this type of escalator shows how the Green Bay Packers are valuing the quarterback position in winning. If the Packers win, Love is going to get more than a little bit of the credit for the game.

This was Love’s first season as the starting quarterback in Green Bay and it was an up-and-down season for the young signal caller as he adjusted to his new role. Still, after winning their final three games of the season, the Packers were able to become a playoff team again.

Over the course of 17 games this season, Jordan Love had a completion percentage of 64.2% and 4,159 yards passing. He also had 32 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. Now, he’ll lead Green Bay on the road against the Dallas Cowboys as an underdog.

Aaron Rodgers says Jordan Love played a ‘masterclass’ vs. Bears

After the regular season ended, Aaron Rodgers praised how Jordan Love played to get Green Bay into the playoffs.

“Well, where’s all the criticism? It’s a little quiet. A little bit quiet isn’t it? A lot of s— talking was going on, a little quiet now. So I don’t know if he used any of that for motivation, it’s always fun to quiet those people though. Proud of him, he’s a great kid and he’s had a nice season,” Rodgers said.

“A lot of people were piling on at 6-8 weren’t they? That was a pretty masterclass performance by Jordan, I think he had only what five or six incompletions? Yeah he played great, took care of the football, made a lot of plays, and now they’re in the playoffs.”
