Joe Buck reportedly leaving FOX Sports to join Troy Aikman at ESPN

Word broke last month that former quarterback, Pro Football Hall of Fame member and current broadcaster Troy Aikman was leaving Fox Sports to head to ESPN to serve as an analyst for "Monday Night Football" broadcasts.

It appears Aikman will be joined by an old friend.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported Friday that play-by-play commentator Joe Buck is expected to follow in Aikman's footsteps by trading in a job at Fox for an ESPN gig calling "Monday Night Football" games alongside his long-time partner. Marchand notes that Buck, 52, had one year and $11 million remaining on his Fox deal but was granted permission to speak with ESPN "for his years of service" to his current employer.

Marchand also reports it's believed Buck will put pen to paper on a five-year contract that will be worth around "$60-$75 million." Buck is also expected to be involved in the production of unspecified ESPN+ content.

Per Fox, Buck originally joined the company back in 1994 and first partnered with Aikman in 2002. The duo began working exclusively with each other in 2005.

Buck had also featured as Fox's lead MLB play-by-play announcer since 1996. As Jack Baer wrote for Yahoo Sports, it's unclear who Fox will choose to replace Buck for its biggest NFL and MLB games moving forward.
