Jimmy Johnson inducted into Cowboys Ring of Honor

Two-time Super Bowl champion Jimmy Johnson is not merely one of the latest inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame , the former Dallas Cowboys head coach got some other big news in Canton on Thursday.

Flanked by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former star quarterback Troy Aikman ahead of Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game, Johnson received news that he is finally headed to the Cowboys Ring of Honor.

The announcement came via Jones himself, and it was something else.

Dallas’ head coach from 1989-93, Johnson did not have the greatest relationship with Jones. In fact, the two sides opted to split after Johnson led the Cowboys to two consecutive Super Bowl wins over the Buffalo Bills following the 1993 season.

After starting out his Cowboys career with an 8-24 record, Johnson’s teams posted a 36-12 record in his final three seasons. It was an amazing turn around for an organization that shockingly moved off longtime head coach Tom Landry immediately prior to Johnson’s arrival.

Johnson will become the 23rd member of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.
