Jets WR Randall Cobb Fined by League for Illegal Hit on Giants' Bobby McCain
USA TODAY Sports

New York Jets receiver Randall Cobb was fined $13,889 by the league for unnecessary roughness during the Jets' preseason finale due to an illegal blindside block on New York Giants defensive back Bobby McCain.

The hit left McCain concussed, and outside linebacker Jihad Ward was enraged enough to take it up with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a sequence captured by HBO's Hard Knocks camera crew.

The sequence, however, made Ward out to be the bad guy when he gave a little extra push to Rodgers following a pass attempt, which was followed by some jawing between the two men.

Ward later explained his side of the story, saying he was defending his fallen teammate for what he perceived as a cheap shot.

Not that Rodgers seemed to care. When he connected with receiver Garrett Wilson for a touchdown pass, Rodgers was shown in the clip going after Ward again, saying, "Don't poke the bear, bro."

The two men then exchanged a round of "I don't know who you are," with Rodgers later boasting to a teammate on the Jes sideline that he got the better of the Giants linebacker in the exchange.

The Giants and Jets face each other during the regular season on October 29, a Giants home game.
