Jets All-Pro DT's social media move could spell trouble on contract talks

Quinnen Williams made a cryptic change to his Twitter account recently that may leave New York Jets fans worried.

There's at least one Jets insider who isn't concerned over Williams' recent social media change though.

New York picked up Williams' fifth-year option in April 2022 and the 2019 third overall pick responded with his best season to date last year.

The Alabama product was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 6, the AFC Player of the Month for October and was a first-time Pro Bowler and first team All-Pro. Williams finished the season with career highs (and team highs) in quarterback hits (28), sacks (12.0) and tackles for loss (12) across 16 games, while adding two forced fumbles and a career-high four passes defended as well.

It was reported earlier in May that the Jets and Williams weren't close to reaching a contract extension with the star defender yet.

With a potentially lethal offense led by wide receiver Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall and newcomer and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, New York's offense is looking potent.

The Jets already have reigning AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner in the secondary, and if the team can solve their problem with Williams, that gives them a star pair for their cornerstone on defense.
