J.C. Jackson Status Update: Rejoining Patriots After Germany Trip?
Jim Rassol / USA TODAY NETWORK

When the New England Patriots left American soil ahead of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in Germany, they did so without a key member in the secondary.

Cornerback J.C. Jackson didn't make the trip to Frankfurt, with Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reporting earlier this week Jackson was late to the Patriots' hotel the night before last Sunday's 20-17 loss at the hands of the Washington Commanders.

Jackson didn't start against Washington but proceeded to play 53 snaps, 68 percent of New England's total. He played 68 percent of defensive snaps the week prior, as well, so his overall time on the field wasn't directly impacted.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn't specify why Jackson isn't with the team this weekend but did provide an encouraging update about his future with the organization.

"I think he'll be available," Belichick said, when asked about Jackson's status upon New England's return home.

The 27-year-old Jackson spent the first four seasons of his professional career in New England, collecting 25 interceptions and 53 passes defended.

This reputation earned Jackson a five-year, $82.5 million contract from the Los Angeles Chargers in Mar. 2022, but he played just seven games during his time in Los Angeles before being traded back to the Patriots prior to Week 5.

Since returning to Foxboro, Jackson has played in five games with three starts, recording 14 total tackles and three passes defended. Jackson has allowed 17 receptions for 216 yards and three touchdowns on 33 targets.

The Patriots, with Jackson back stateside, will take on the Colts at 9:30 a.m. EST Sunday in Frankfurt.
