Jason Kelce lands new media job after his retirement

Jason Kelce has a new job after retiring from the NFL, and his new role will not come as a huge surprise.

Kelce is joining ESPN as part of “Monday Night Countdown,” according to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. The longtime Philadelphia Eagles center is expected to work alongside Scott Van Pelt, Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark, and will essentially be replacing Robert Griffin III.

From the moment he retired this season, Kelce was seen as highly likely to land a media job. He received interest from pretty much every NFL rightsholder, but it was ESPN that ultimately won the bidding war. According to Marchand, he also received interest from Amazon, NBC and CBS.

Kelce will presumably tone down the shirtless antics, at least while he’s on the air with ESPN, but it is no surprise he was a highly sought-after target. He has shown himself to be both knowledgeable and entertaining, and should be a success at ESPN.
