It is not going to get any easier for the Giants after ugly start

After a second blowout loss in three games, the New York Giants are off to a 1-2 start and already facing an uphill battle in a very tough NFC East. 

Even worse news for Giants fans is that the road is not going to get any easier over the next few weeks.

After losing to San Francisco on Thursday night, 30-12, the Giants' next three games are home against Seattle and then on the road at Miami and Buffalo.

Those are all playoff teams from a year ago.

They are also all offenses that should be able to continue to exploit a Giants defense that has allowed at least 28 points in each of their first three games and is averaging 32.7 against per game. 

Through three games the Giants have been completely blown out and dominated by the two playoff teams from last year that they already played (40-0 against Dallas and 30-12 against the 49ers), and needed an historic comeback to overcome a three-touchdown deficit against the worst team in the NFL (Arizona) to only beat them on a late field goal. 

There is nothing about this team that has looked even remotely similar to what we saw from it a year ago, and based on the upcoming schedule it is not a stretch to think this team could be staring at potential 2-4 or even 1-5 start. It is the completely opposite of what we saw from them a year ago when they jumped out to a 7-2 start.

Speaking of which, since that 7-2 start the Giants are only 4-8-1 in the 13 games since then (including playoffs). Two of those wins came against a Colts team last year that was embarrassing itself with Jeff Saturday as its head coach and a Cardinals team this season that might not be expected to win more than two games all year. 

Quarterback Daniel Jones has badly regressed through three games, superstar running back Saquon Barkley is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that is likely to linger, they are not getting much from their wide receivers and the defense has been awful across the board through three games. 

On one hand, it is just three games. There is, in theory, still time to turn it around.

We are also looking at a stretch of games dating back to last season that is almost a full season's worth of games and there is not much reason to think it is going to turn around anytime soon. Especially with that upcoming schedule and playing in a division where the other three teams are already a combined 6-0. The Cowboys and Eagles are also both heavy favorites this week and could push the Giants down even further.
