Hudson Parliament Returns to Iowa City

Iowa Football impressed Hudson Parliament when he visited campus for a game last season. The Class of 2026 South Dakota offensive lineman's feelings were confirmed this past weekend when he returned for a junior day. 

"The people, culture and heritage of Iowa football stood out to me during a game visit this past fall," he told HN. "My feelings haven’t changed after this visit."

Two-time defending FCS champion South Dakota State and North Dakota have reportedly offered Parliament scholarships. The Hawkeyes have let the Brandon Valley High standout know that they're very interested. 

Assistant LeVar Woods is leading Iowa's recruitment of Parliament. Offensive line coach George Barnett also is involved. 

"Coach Barnett discussed the selective recruiting process at Iowa. That's when it became clear to me that Iowa has a high interest in what they have seen from me so far, which was very encouraging," Parliament said. 

"Coach Woods first saw me at one of my games last fall. He said I was mauling guys out there. Coach Woods also made comparisons of myself to former Hawkeye players, which was very humbling to hear."

Parliament looked at Iowa offensive line highlight clips with Barnett during junior day. 

"As I watched, I felt like I was watching my sophomore season highlights. These clips showed a display of dominance at the point of attack in the run game, aggressive pulling guards, being a violent finisher of blocks and flat out hustle plays," he said. 

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound sophomore excels on both sides of the ball while viewing those sophomore highlights. When he lines up at defensive tackle, containing him is a chore. On offense, as Woods said, Parliament mauls people with power, good hand placement and pad level, and quick feet. 

Iowa could be a good fit for those traits. 

"I like how coach Barnett is real and doesn't sugar coat things. I feel like I would always know where I stand with him and this appeals to me. To be part of a team and program with a proven track record of player development is important to me," he said. 

In addition to the two FCS offers close to home and Hawkeye interest, Parliament said he's hearing from Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas State and Iowa State. 

"I'll be back in Iowa City this spring for a practice and then again for camp. I'm preparing for a busy summer camp schedule," he said. 

While academics will be weighed heavily in his final decision, Parliament still is trying to figure out a field of study. 

"At this point, I'm completely undecided. Until then, I plan to take general studies," he said.
