Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson shares wild takes on Cowboys, Eagles

Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, a longtime Fox Sports analyst, had hot takes Thursday about the current Cowboys and their NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles.

While the current Dallas team has some serious firepower, enters Week 10 at 6-2 and is a solid bet to make the playoffs again, to call this squad the best Cowboys team he's ever seen is quite the hot take.

During his five-year run as the team's head coach from 1989 through 1993, Johnson--a Pro Football Hall of Famer -- led Dallas to two Super Bowl titles.

Mike McCarthy's 2022 version of the Cowboys boasts talent such as Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and CeeDee Lamb on offense, with DeMarcus Lawrence, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs highlighting the big-name defensive unit.

Johnson's crews in 1992 and 1993, featured Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin on offense and Charles Haley on defense. All are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Regarding the 79-year-old's thoughts on the Eagles, it's hard to argue against an 8-0 start. There's still about half of a regular season to go, but Philadelphia has perhaps the MVP front-runner in Jalen Hurts; a solid running game led by Miles Sanders; strong receiving options in A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert; and an elite defense.

The Eagles' next chance to continue their perfect start will come in Week 10's edition of "Monday Night Football," when they face the Washington Commanders. Dallas and Philadelphia will square off in Week 15 at 4:25 p.m. ET on Christmas Eve.
