Giants HC attempts to clear up confusion over Daniel Jones injury

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll tried to clear up any confusion that fans and reporters had Monday morning.

It was reported earlier Monday that quarterback Daniel Jones had been cleared for full contact prior to the team's Week 8 overtime loss against the New York Jets as he recovers from his neck issue. Jones was ruled out for Sunday's contest on Friday and the Giants eventually had to turn to undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito under center after veteran Tyrod Taylor exited with a rib injury.

Daboll said Monday that trainers told him Sunday that Jones was "ready to go" for Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders, via Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

The G-Men's 13-10 loss to the Jets was their fifth defeat in their last six games and they remain in last place in the NFC East at 2-6.

The Giants had only 12 first downs during the game and although they ran for 203 yards as a team, it came on a whopping 52 carries. Running back Saquon Barkley had a career-high 36 rushing attempts for a season-best 128 yards.

DeVito and Taylor combined for -9 passing yards, which was the lowest output for a NFL team since 2000. The rookie went 2-for-7 for -1 passing yard with no touchdowns, no interceptions and four rushing attempts for 12 yards and one score, while the 13th-year pro was 4-for-7 for eight passing yards with no touchdowns, no interceptions and 33 rushing yards on five carries.
