Former Tennessee Vols QB lands with new NFL franchise
Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports

Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Nathan Peterman has a new NFL home.

Peterman, who spent three seasons at Tennessee before transferring to Pittsburgh, is signing with the New Orleans Saints to compete for a backup spot behind starter Derek Carrr according to Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill.

Landing in New Orleans makes sense for Peterman because he previously served as a backup to Carr when both players were with the Las Vegas Raiders. It also makes sense because Peterman's previously worked with Saints quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko (Janocko was Peterman's quarterbacks coach when both were with the Chicago Bears).

Peterman struggled during his time at Tennessee, but he's managed to carve out a nice role as a backup and occasional spot starter in the NFL.

The Florida native is entering his eighth season in the league. Peterman's made five career starts during his pro career, with his most recent start coming in 2022 with the Bears.
