Former NFL defensive lineman Louis Nix, who was reported missing earlier this week, was found dead, his family members told two Jacksonville television stations, according to SI's Mike Fisher.
Nix's family reported him missing on Wednesday, and his mother said she believed the former Houston Texans' third-round pick was in danger. Nix was last seen leaving his father's Jacksonville home.
It's unclear how he died or if any foul play was involved.
Nix was shot in December while filling his car tires with air near the Jacksonville airport. His mother said she doesn't believe his disappearance was related to the shooting.
The former Texan also played for the New York Giants, Washington Football Team and Jacksonville Jaguars. He played college football at Notre Dame.
