Nix was shot in December while putting air in the tires of his car. The bullet entered his lung. Although she believes her son is in danger, Nix's mother told Becker she doesn't believe the current situation is related to the shooting.
The former Texan also played for the New York Giants, Washington Football Team and Jacksonville Jaguars. He played college football at Notre Dame.
