Former Buccaneers Coach Takes Surprising New Coaching Job

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers football coach Jon Gruden is returning to football, but not in the way you might think.

Gruden was most recently a head coach with the Las Vegas Raiders from 2018-21, but he resigned from his position after emails of his containing misogynistic and homophobic content were leaked to the public. After that, he joined the New Orleans Saints as a consultant in 2023, but he has recently announced his new job — serving as a consultant for the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football.

The job is certainly a far cry from where Gruden was in 2021. Gruden won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, but his overall head coaching record is barely over .500 — he's currently 117-112 all-time and he went 57-55 with the Bucs, netting three winning seasons in six years after winning the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay.

Gruden is still currently in the process of suing the National Football League, purporting that the league itself leaked the details of his emails. The suit is being looked at by the Nevada Supreme Court.

Gruden is the third-most winningest coach in Buccaneers history. He stands behind Tony Dungy, with a winning percentage of .563, and Bruce Arians, who remains the winningest coach in franchise history with a percentage of .633.
