Former All-Pro believes Bills, Stefon Diggs heading for a split in 2024

Monday’s 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos was the first time Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs was held to fewer than 50 yards receiving this season, which didn’t sit right with his brother Trevon, a star cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys.

The younger Diggs brother once again stirred the pot via social media about whether his older sibling wanted out of Buffalo — something ex-All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski believes is a real possibility in 2024.

“There's been smoke, there's been fire for the last two years,” Gronkowski said during a Wednesday appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams.” “I don't think he's going to be there after this year.”

Gronkowski noted that just because he thinks Diggs wants out doesn’t mean it’s necessarily the best move for the two-time All-Pro receiver, who’s tallied 100 or more catches, 1,200 or more yards, and eight or more touchdowns in every one of his seasons since he was traded to the Bills in 2020.

Diggs had just one 100-catch season and two seasons with 1,000 yards and eight or more touchdowns in his previous five years with the Minnesota Vikings.

“It doesn't make sense,” Gronkowski added. “You're paid, you're the No. 1 wide receiver — what's the worry? Josh Allen looks to go to you every single time that he possibly can. You got your stats. It's not like you'll be better with another team. … I don't know what the problem is. ... Just suck it up, why cause these problems?”

While Diggs — and the Bills, for that matter — have downplayed the 29-year-old wideout’s unhappiness with the organization, it’s clear the relationship between the two parties isn’t as strong as it was when he first landed in Buffalo.

Diggs signed a four-year, $96 million contract extension with the Bills in April 2022, so if he were to play elsewhere next year, a team would have to offer a significant trade package to pry him away from Buffalo.
