Favorite Memories of Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hall of Fame Cornerback Ronde Barber

There are a few moments in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history where fans can look back at say, 'I remember where I was when...'. 

And one of those moments is when Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber returned an interception back for a touchdown in the final game ever to be played at 'The Vet'. 

Tampa Bay won that game in the Championship Round of the 2002 NFL Playoffs 27-10 over the Philadelphia Eagles and closed their home stadium forever in the process. 

The Buccaneers went on to handle the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII, earning the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy. 

And that play in Philly, among others, is why Bucs fans swore for years the voters got it wrong when No. 20 didn't enter the Hall of Fame with teammates Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, and John Lynch. 

It's the single-most recalled play by Barber. But not the only one. 

On Locked On Bucs, James Yarcho set out to recall our favorite memory of Barber's career, and in turn, fans of the player and team shared some of their own. 

For Yarcho, it was another Eagles game - and another Tampa Bay win - but in the 2006 regular season. 

In that game, Barber gave Philadelphia fans a replay of the pick-six that imploded their beloved stadium - but this time in Tampa - and just in case they missed the first one he gave them an encore performance with two of them in just the one contest.

His 12 points not only ensured Eagles fans would forever dread the name 'Barber' but also gave the Buccaneers a 23-21 win. 

For me, it wasn't so much one single play, but the consistency of the man. 

Barber still holds the record for most consecutive starts by a defensive back in NFL history. 

A record that stands at 215 consecutive starts. 

It started with a win over the Atlanta Falcons, and Barber reached consecutive start No. 200 in a win over the Carolina Panthers. 

Start No. 215 came against the Falcons again, and was also a win. 

It's the ultimate Barber stat. Consistent, impressive, and coming at the expense of Bucs rivals.

Buccaneers fan Matt Arrington commented the NFC Championship pick-six is, "probably the most legendary moment in Bucs history."

Meanwhile, another Tampa Bay fan recalled how he watched Barber and his teammates win their Super Bowl on a cruise ship along with 3,000 other people.

On any social media platform you can find these days, Buccaneers fans are celebrating the upcoming enshrinement of cornerback Ronde Barber into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. 

It may be overdue, but it's finally here, and well deserved. 

And every Bucs fan is celebrating the career, the achievements, and the legendary status, of their favorite defensive back.
