Falcons sign CB Darqueze Dennard after Jaguars deal fell through in March

The Atlanta Falcons added to their secondary on Monday.

According to ESPN's Vaughn McClure, the Falcons have signed cornerback Darqueze Dennard to a deal, but the details currently aren't available.

Dennard originally agreed to a three-year, $13.5 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but both sides couldn't agree on terms.

The 28-year-old was one of the Cincinnati Bengals' best defensive backs last season, leading the team in catch rate allowed below expectation: 16 completions on 36 targets.

In 77 career games, Dennard has three interceptions, 22 passes defended, two forced fumbles, three sacks and 274 tackles.

He joins a Falcons team who is loaded with first-round talent for the 2020 campaign. When they added Todd Gurley in March, Atlanta was projected to have 10 former first-round picks in their offense.

After going 7-9 in 2019, the Falcons have the opportunity to do something special this season, though they'll have to get through the likes of Tom Brady and Drew Brees in order to do so.
