Falcons Pro Bowl DT commends rookie RB

Rookie running back Bijan Robinson is making a strong first impression in Atlanta.

"Certain dudes, you just see the way they move," Falcons two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Grady Jarrett recently said via the team's website. "That it's special the way you carry yourself. He's going to be a heck of a player. He's already put so much tape throughout his college career, but I'm sure they will have a great plan for him. I don't see him missing a beat."

Robinson, the 2022 Doak Walker Award winner and eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was a surprising choice. Atlanta finished third in rushing yards last season, so RB didn't appear to be a need.

Plus, teams drafting a back in the top 10 is starting to become rare. Per Michael Rothstein of ESPN, Robinson was the first RB selected in the top 10 since Saquon Barkley, who went second overall in 2018.

Yet Robinson's versatility separates him from other prospects and makes him an asset for the Falcons offense.

"[The Falcons] knew he could be a weapon that could be used in a variety of ways, but when they saw it first hand in OTAs and mini-camp, he exceeded their expectations," NFL Network reporter James Palmer recently said on "NFL Total Access."

Rothstein noted that the Falcons used the 21-year-old as an RB and WR during mandatory mini-camp, which is a great sign. It shows that Robinson could develop into an elite playmaker.

Also, if his skills translate during the regular season, expect Robinson to enter the Offensive Rookie of The Year discussion. Per DraftKings, he possesses the best odds of winning the award.
