Falcons Defense 'Fights' in Week 2 Win
USA TODAY Sports

On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons welcomed the new-look Green Bay Packers to town and were able to win by a score of 25-24 in large part thanks to a strong showing by the defense.

The Falcons (2-0) were able to contain the Packers (1-1) to just 224 yards of total offense, forcing new starter Jordan Love to have to be the hero. Linebacker Kaden Elliss, who finished with a team-high six tackles and one sack broke down what exactly was working for the Falcons in terms of slowing down the Packers.

“We were able to manage and hold up against what they did and not allow too many points, and when it became time, we made some corrections," Elliss said. "Congrats to our staff. They did some awesome stuff on the sideline to get us to go out and make a couple of adjustments, and we were able to stop them.”

Elliss also touched on what the last period stand shows not only his team, but the NFL what the Falcons are made of.

“We’re fighters. You put in all the work [in the] offseason and everything going up in training camp, all of that," Elliss said. "To go out and be able to finish a game and be able to execute like that at the end of the game shows you that there is some fight in this team."

He did of course acknowledge that there is room to grow for the now 2-0 Falcons.

"There’s still more to learn about this team, there’s still more growth to happen and that is going to continue to be vital all the way through our season continuing to grow week to week," Elliss said. "But at the end of the day, right now, where we’re at, we’re fighters and we are going to continue to go out and give you everything we got.”

The Falcons are set to hit the road for the first time this season, as they will be making the trip north to take on the Detroit Lions (1-1), who are fresh off of an overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
