Falcons could be welcoming back defensive line help
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons lost the heart of their team more than a month ago when Grady Jarrett went down with a season-ending knee injury.

Ryan Nielsen’s defense took a step back immediately. Against the Vikings, the Falcons surrendered 31 points to Josh Dobbs, who had less than a week’s time in Minnesota. The following week the defense gave up 25 points to the Cardinals in Kyler Murray’s first game back since tearing his ACL.

Thankfully, Nielsen’s unit bounced back with impressive performances against some lowly offenses, holding the Saints to 15 points and the Jets to just 8 points. Now, they’ll be welcoming back what was once an emerging piece of the defensive line.

The team announced that they have designated LaCale London to return from injured reserve.

He was placed on the IR around the same time that Grady Jarrett’s season-ending injury was also announced.  His 21-day window is open, so he must either be activated to the 53-man roster or placed on season-ending injured reserve by the end of the three weeks.

The mammoth of a defensive tackle was signed to the active roster about a week before he was placed on the IR, previously sitting on the practice squad. London was elevated for three games, against the Commanders, Buccaneers and Titans, notching a fumble recovery and four tackles across that period.

As the Falcons are set to host the Buccaneers this Sunday, LaCale London could be a welcomed addition to Atlanta’s defensive front. We’ll find out soon whether he’ll be activated or not.
