Eagles WR Tyrie Cleveland immobilized, carted off after neck injury

A scary moment unfolded in Philadelphia during Thursday night’s preseason game between the Eagles and Browns. Veteran receiver Tyrie Cleveland left the game on a stretcher in the third quarter.

Cleveland, in his fourth NFL season, fell hard and awkwardly while attempting to make a catch. The injury sustained was serious that medical personnel brought a stretcher onto the field.

The former Florida star also had to be carted off the field. Several players took a knee while trainers attended Cleveland.

Per the NFL Network broadcast, the injury was to Cleveland’s neck. The report also indicated Cleveland had movement in his extremities, a positive sign after such a frightening situation.

Thursday’s game marked the second preseason game for both the Browns and Eagles.

Cleveland started his career with the Denver Broncos, selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his career, he’s totaled eight catches for 91 yards and racked up 234 return yards.
