Eagles Sign Ex Buccaneers Linebacker

The Philadelphia Eagles are tweaking their roster with the hopes of another NFC East title and another Super Bowl appearance.

On the heels of signing former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley to a reported three-year deal, Philly has lured away former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White on a one-year contract with a reported $7.5 million.

White was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and a second-team All-Pro in 2020. He appeared in 14 games while starting in 13 for the Bucs last season and tallied 83 total tackles and 2.5 sacks.

White joins other newcomers to Philadelphia like Barkley, defensive end Bryce Huff, linebacker Zack Baun and defensive back C.J. Gardner Johnson.

The former LSU Tiger was drafted by the Buccaneers No. 5 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and recorded a career-high 140 tackles in 2020 when the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl.

His career in Tampa Bay ends with 566 total tackles, 23 sacks, nine fumble recoveries, six forced fumbles, three interceptions and 21 passes defended in 75 games.

White was heavily criticized by local media in Tampa last season for missing tackles and misreading plays, and was thought to be leaving in free agency.
