Eagles Should Prioritize Extension With OL Jack Driscoll
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles had a very busy offseason. Franchises around the league were poaching coaches and players from them with regularity, attempting to recreate the success that the Eagles have had in recent seasons.

After looking like the laughing stock of the league at the end of the 2020 season, when people hinted at the Eagles throwing the last game of the season to improve draft position, they have quickly turned things around. Heading into the third campaign since that mishap, Philadelphia now has a perennial contender on their hands.

General manager Howie Roseman has done an excellent job of quickly turning the fortunes of the franchise. Seemingly all of the decisions that he has made have been hits, as the work the Eagles’ front office has done during the NFL Draft has been very impressive. They are routinely labeled as winners there, which has helped them build out the depth of their roster.

That depth will be put to the test this upcoming season as multiple key players departed in free agency. The defense was hit especially hard, but the offense wasn’t without their lumps as well.

One of the major losses that they suffered was starting guard Isaac Seumalo signing a three-year, $24 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His loss is a major one in the opinion of starting center Jason Kelce. The team also lost some depth with Andre Dillard signing with the Tennessee Titans.

That, in part, is why Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes that offensive lineman Jack Driscoll is the player that the Eagles should work out an extension this offseason. Driscoll has been primarily a depth player but is an important piece of the puzzle in the trenches.

He has appeared in 37 games, making 16 starts, since being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He possesses excellent versatility, capable of filling in at different spots along the offensive line.

With the potential to lock down a starting job, the Eagles would be smart to try hammering out an extension now. If they wait and he not only wins the starting job but excels while doing it, his price tag is only going to increase.
