The Philadelphia Eagles always receive a tough game from the Washington Commanders. In Week 4, they defeated the Commanders 34-31, needing overtime to put them away. In Week 8, the teams once again played a competitive match, with the Eagles coming away victorious again, 38-31.

It wasn’t the greatest performance by Philadelphia, but a win is a win. They are now 7-1, owners of the best record in the NFL. But navigating the next few weeks could prove troublesome as they had numerous key players battling through injuries against Washington.

Many people will be keeping an eye on quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has an injured knee. He was able to make it through the game but it will be something to watch as Philadelphia cannot afford to have him get injured worse. Last season without him in the lineup, the Eagles went 0-2.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter was not as fortunate. The star rookie was forced out of the game in the second half because of a back injury. According to Eagles writer Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Carter is set to undergo an MRI Monday morning to determine the extent of his injury.

McLane did add that he was walking around after the game without any apparent issues. But, the MRI will reveal what kind of injury Carter is dealing with.

Carter has been everything the Eagles could have hoped for when they selected him as No. 9 in the 2023 NFL Draft. There were some analysts who believed he was the top prospect in this year’s draft class and he has lived up to that billing thus far.

Carter is currently the No. 1 ranked interior defensive lineman in the NFL per PFF with a 91.3 overall grade. He has 27 total pressures, recording at least three in every game despite playing only 183 total snaps. That puts him tied for 79th in snaps, but fourth in total pressures. He is getting the job done with semi-limited playing time.
