Eagles' Lane Johnson, Brian Westbrook named to Senior Bowl Hall of Fame

It’s been a long time since Brian Westbrook and Lane Johnson played college football, but both got to relive their glory days when they were inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame this week.

Westbrook rushed for 4,298 yards and 54 touchdowns while at Villanova, along with 30 scores and 2,582 yards receiving. He also had 2,289 yards as a returner. In his last game as a Wildcat, Westbrook broke the NCAA All-Divisions record with 9,512 career all-purpose yards.

The talented running back became the first player in Villanova history to earn First-Team All-America honors in three different seasons. After leaving school as the team’s all-time leading scorer, he was one of only five FCS players invited to play in the 2002 Senior Bowl.

A few months later, he was taken in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft by Philadelphia, where he accounted for more than 10,000 yards and 69 touchdowns, including one as a passer.

Johnson, currently the an All-Pro right tackle, had three touchdown passes of his own in 2008 as a backup QB at Kilgore College. He transferred to Oklahoma in 2009 and, after a brief stint at tight end, found a permanent home on the offensive line.

In 2013, Johnson was drafted fourth overall by the Eagles after being named the Senior Bowl’s Most Outstanding Lineman. Today the award sits on his mantle, and after 10 years in Philadelphia, Johnson is still proving to be an outstanding lineman.

Widely regarded as the best right tackle in football, Johnson hasn’t given up a sack since Week 11 of the 2020 season. He’s earned two First-Team All-Pro nominations and helped the team win a championship in Super Bowl LII.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the other Eagles in the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame. Like Westbrook, Ron Jaworski, Terrell Owens and Donovan McNabb all made a Super Bowl appearance, but only Johnson has a championship ring.
