Dolphins to reportedly lose LB Andrew Van Ginkel to the Minnesota Vikings

It truly has become a day to remember for the Miami Dolphins - in a very bad way.  

The Dolphins lost yet another impact player on Monday, their fourth of the day.  This time it's Andrew Van Ginkel who 's reportedly agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings on a two-year, $20 million deal. 

On a day where the Dolphins saw two teams offer to two of their own to $100+ million deals in Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt, losing Van Ginkel might be the most alarming of all.  

Van Ginkel, a 5th round pick by the Dolphins in 2019, had a terrific season for last year for Miami, appearing in all 17 games while starting 11.  He ended up with a career high 6 sacks and earned a sterling Pro Football Focus grade of 90.7 with 90.6 pass rush and 87.3 coverage marks in 727 defensive snaps.  He also sported an impressive 16.5% pressure rate in 321 pass rushing snaps. 

Aside from Van Ginkel's production, it's the team's apparent unwillingness to match that offer that's equally disturbing.  The Dolphins did reportedly manage to get under the cap on Monday afternoon with restructures to Jalen Ramsey, Alec Ingold, Zach Sieler, and Durham Smythe, as well as Terron Armstead reworking his deal.  As such, they have a little bit of financial flexibility to make some moves.

However, letting a player of Van Ginkel's production walk out the door is a disconcerting move.  One that Dolphins fans hope doesn't bite the team next fall.
