Dolphins sign dominant run-stuffer
Teair Tart. Steve Roberts-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins are signing former Houston Texans dominant run-stuffing defensive tackle Teair Tart.

News of Tart’s signing was first reported by Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

Tart arrives in Miami following one of the more consistently dominant seasons of his NFL career, and figures to play a big part in replacing Christian Wilkins, who departed South Beach for the Las Vegas Raiders early in free agency.

The Titans released Tart on Dec. 13 last year, before he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans and played a key role along the defensive line in Houston’s playoff run.

“Two years ago,” Zoltan Buday wrote of Tart for Pro Football Focus before free agency began. “Tart had a breakout campaign and finished with the 17th-highest pass-rushing grade (75.9) among interior defenders.”

Through his first 47 career games since signing with the Titans as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft, Tart has logged 79 total tackles with 16 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, seven pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

In Miami, Tart figures to play a key role in Miami’s defensive tackle rotation.
