Dolphins' Albert Wilson opts out, joins fellow WR Allen Hurns

For the second time in two days, a Miami Dolphins wide receiver has opted out of participating in the 2020 NFL season scheduled to be held amid the worsening coronavirus pandemic.

28-year-old wideout Albert Wilson announced his decision via Twitter:

"Not an easy decision to make.....

"I've decided to opt out this 2020 season. It was a very tough choice but since the day I started playing the game it's always been Faith Family Football. Because of this crazy time I choose to put my family in the best situation I see fit. I will stand by my teammates & brothers to support them 100% throughout this season and will be counting the days until I can join them again 1 love."

Fellow Dolphins receiver Allen Hurns opted out on Tuesday.

Miami head coach Brian Flores voiced support for Wilson just as he did after learning of Hurns' choice.

Wilson began training camp signed through only the 2020 season. His contract now tolls to the 2021 campaign, per an agreement between the league and NFL Players Association.

In 13 games last year, Wilson tallied 43 catches on 62 targets with 351 receiving yards and a single score. He also gained 45 rushing yards on five attempts.
