DK Metcalf: Contract extension with Seahawks is going to get done

Several star wide receivers have been traded during the 2022 offseason, but DK Metcalf says he won't be parting ways with the Seattle Seahawks anytime soon.

"We're going to get something done," Metcalf told Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast Monday when asked about contract negotiations. "I think I'm going to be in Seattle for the next coming years."

Metcalf, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie contract after three seasons with the Seahawks. In 49 career games, Metcalf has 3,170 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns, as well as another three touchdowns in three playoff games.

Earlier in the offseason, the Seahawks traded nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. With Seattle in the beginning stages of a rebuild, many have suggested that Metcalf could also be made available with a significant trade package. According to one report, the New York Jets considered trading the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft as part of a deal to acquire Metcalf.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll pushed back against those rumors and told The Athletic on Sunday that the Seahawks "don't plan on [Metcalf] going anywhere."
