DJ Turner II Quickly Acclimating to NFL Action: 'Helps Your Confidence' Guarding Bengals WRs
USA TODAY Sports

Bengals rookie cornerback DJ Turner II continued proving he belongs in the NFL with another solid game against Arizona in his first pro start.

Turner finished with four tackles and one pass breakup to tally a 68 Pro Football Focus grade.

"It was great," Turner said this week. "My first NFL start. We came out with the dub and that's all that matters."

Turner (66.2 grade) only trails fellow rookie Jordan Battle (77.2) among Bengals players in Proo Football Focus coverage grade. He's gotten plenty of reps against Cincinnati's elite secondary, and it's paying off early on.

"I wouldn't say overwhelming," Turner said about the adjustment from college to the pros. "When it comes to receivers, we got the best-receiving corps in the league. So if you get comfortable guarding them it definitely helps your confidence."

He'll need that confidence this weekend against a wide receiver duo that isn't far behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins: Seattle's DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
