D.J. Humphries: 'You're a plum fool' to think Kyler Murray is not in Cardinals' future

Following an interesting winter that may or may not have included some social-media drama regarding Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray wanting to put pen to paper on a contract extension that'd provide him with a pay raise and significant financial guarantees, it appears the two sides are reading from the same book and on the same page weeks before the summer months.

Most notably, Murray seemed to pour cold water over any notion he'd cause actual problems behind the scenes when he arrived for voluntary organized team activities last week. ESPN's Josh Weinfuss noted that Murray wasn't spotted on the field on Monday, but left tackle D.J. Humphries made it clear, when speaking with media members, that nobody should read too much into the two-time Pro Bowler's absence.

"If you think Kyler is not our future, you’re a plum fool," Humphries remarked, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "That’s our quarterback.

"You need to stop that day drinking."

Humphries may have some inside information. After all, general manager Steve Keim reminded everyone in late May that Murray "is under contract for another year and also the fifth-year option (in 2023)" and added at that time that he felt that "we'll be able to get something done this summer."

Murray could've remained away from the team for all voluntary sessions if he didn't share Keim's optimism. Instead, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury previously stated it's believed the 24-year-old will attend mandatory minicamp scheduled to take place from June 14-16.
