'Didn’t wanna pay me..' ‘Gutted’ Charles Omenihu discloses his disappointment for not being able to play Super Bowl against former team

The Kansas City Chiefs had a historic consecutive second Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers nearly one and a half months back. The Niners had an edge for the majority of the game, however, the Chiefs turned the equation upside down with a late touchdown, thrown by none other than Patrick Mahomes in OT.

Charles Omenihu, the defensive end for the Chiefs, missed the Super Bowl due to an unfortunate injury. Just a few weeks before the Super Bowl, he tore his Achilles and was ruled out of the mega event. However, in hindsight, the Chiefs didn’t miss him much and managed to cross the finishing line.

Months later, Omenihu opened up on how badly he wanted to be a part of the Super Bowl. In a conversation with Kay Adams on the Up and Adams show, he noted that he wanted to play against his former team, the San Francisco 49ers. It seemed like Omenihu still held a grudge against the 49ers for not paying him and hence, he wanted to show them his worth.

It wasn’t good. It wasn’t a good feeling at all. I wanted to play so bad. Especially being my former team last year. I felt like this was my opportunity to show y’all that ‘you didn’t want to pay me.’ Y’all let me go. This is kinda like my opportunity to show y’all that was a horrible decision. And the fact that I wasn’t able to do that against them. I have got over it now, but at that time it very much ate at me. Charles Omenihu said.
