The Las Vegas Raiders' offense has had a tough time getting going this season. Part of the reason they did enough to beat the Green Bay Packers was that they found various ways to get the football to as many of their talented receivers as possible, in as many ways as possible.

"DeAndre [Carter], I mean, we're all aware of his impact in the kicking game," Coach Josh McDaniels said. "When DC gets the ball, he can change field position.

"He's done that a few times this season for us when we've had opportunities. We're just trying to get him to touch the football a little bit more as we go, and he's learned that. He does a good job when he has it."

McDaniels values players who are intelligent, challenging, and mature, as well as versatile players who can play multiple positions. Carter is a player who falls in that category.

"He's a good space player, he's tough, tough runner, hard to tackle, knows every position," McDaniels said. "He played multiple positions the other day. He played every position in the same game.

"He works really hard. He's very diligent in his preparation, he knows every role on the field, which when we get into a pinch, somebody's got to go in there, and DC has done a really good job of being available for that too."

On Monday night, Carter was responsible for converting a crucial fourth down for the Raiders.

"So, he made a big play on the fourth-and-one the other night too," McDaniels said. "So, we have a lot of trust and faith in him, a lot of confidence. He's a true pro, does a great job of preparing every week, works hard, takes care of his body. We're  really glad we have him."

Added Offensive Coordinator Mick Lombardi: “DeAndre is a professional. He has been on different teams and is a smaller size receiver who has a skill set in terms of speed and is a guy who can play in different spots on the field."

Carter has used that experience to influence the position group as a whole positively.

"So, he's definitely, I would say, been a mentor, not just to Tre, but to other young receivers," Lombardi said. "And like I said before, that room is just very close knit and they all feed off each other, and it's really fun to watch in practice. They all root for each other, they all take reps.

"I think we saw in the game; Tre got a little banged up on special teams and then next man up, and DC [DeAndre Carter] is playing some of his role.

"Again, just like Jakobi [Meyers], DC is a professional who cares about the team first. That's what we look for in every position and that's what the receiver room has.”

The Raiders had one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the NFL. Monday night was the first time Las Vegas showed just how versatile they are at the position this season.

The Silver and Black will stay home at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to play the New England Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 4:05 p.m. EDT/1:05 p.m. PDT.
