Darius Slay believes Eagles' secondary could make switch to wide receiver

Still undefeated at 8-0, the Philadelphia Eagles are starting to believe they can accomplish anything. Those vibes must be rubbing off on Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay, who spit the hottest of hot takes while speaking with the media this week.

Slay is already one of the league's best shutdown corners, but he believes he and his fellow mates in the secondary could easily make a position change to the other side of the ball.

"We should be switching over to receiver, too," Slay told NJ.com's Kevin Manahan. "We're not the best route-runners but we have the best hands on the team."

Quite the proclamation, but if Slay lacks anything, it isn't confidence. And even if Slay was being half serious with his comments, he may have a point. The Eagles lead the NFL with 12 interceptions, paced by safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson's league-leading five picks. Meanwhile, Slay has already equaled his interception total from 2021 (3).

When questioned about sharing his opinion with teammates A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, two of the Eagles' standout receivers, Slay said they "already know" he has better hands, adding that he tells them "every day."

The 31-year-old does have some recent experience on the offensive side of things, limited that it might be. Last December, against the Washington Commanders, the Eagles used Slay as a decoy in the red zone, but quarterback Jalen Hurts didn't look his way.
