Dak Prescott’s brother Tad says Cowboys QB will have a ‘worse’ season than last year
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Tad Prescott has an interesting prediction for his brother Dak Prescott. On the I AM Athlete Podcast , Tad talked about the Dallas Cowboys quarterback and was asked if his brother will have a better season than what he produced in 2023.

“Worse,” Tad said. “I am a realist. The only reason I am going to say worse is because, in order for him to be better, he [needs to be] an MVP, he’s a 1st Team All-Pro, and he’s a Super Bowl champion. Dak’s second Team All Pro, second in MVP voting and leader in touchdown passes [in the 2023 season]. So the only way you can get better than that is to do what I just said.”

Dak Prescott arguably had his best season as a pro in 2023. He finished the regular season with 4,516 passing yards, 36 touchdowns and just nine interceptions with a passer rating of 105.9. He led the Cowboys to an NFC East title, but the team lost to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Will Dak Prescott leave the Cowboys in 2024?

Prescott has proven to be a franchise QB for the Cowboys. But will he be with the team after the 2024 season? There have been talks of the Cowboys potentially giving Presoctt a contract exgtension as he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025.

For the 2024 season, Prescott has a salary cap hit of $55.455 million. It was at nearly $60 million, but the Cowboys restructured his contract last month, converting $5 million of his roster bonus this season into a signing bonus. But there is no indication of when Prescott will get a new contract from Dallas.

“We think he’s a great quarterback. That is really the gist of what we’re about this year. We’ve got Dak,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. I think Dak will be at the top of his game. I’ve said that I do think he will improve from where he is now. I think we’ll have that.”

Prescott knows that 2024 is a crucial year for him, and not because it could be his final year with the Cowboys. The team has not won or played in a Super Bowl since the 1995 season, leading to Prescott understanding that he has to play with a sense of urgerncy every week.

“Just understanding injuries and what I’ve been [through] throughout my career and understanding that you don’t have forever to play this game,” Prescott said last summer. “I’m blessed for every moment that I get. Just trying to take it with a sense of urgency.”
