The Washington Commanders have released offensive tackle Drew Himmelman on Wednesday with a failed physical designation. Washington claimed Himmelman off waivers from the Denver Broncos.

Himmelman spent last season on the Broncos practice squad. Denver elevated him for two games but did not play any snaps.

Standing at a towering 6-foot-10, 305 pounds, Himmelman initially signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois State in 2021. He received a $25,000 signing bonus as part of $150,000 in guarantees.

Himmelman added depth for the Commanders at offensive tackle. Currently, Charles Leno Jr. and Sam Cosmi are booked as starters. The other tackles on the roster are Cornlius Lucas and Saahdiq Charles.

Washington has an open roster spot, so it will be interesting to see if they comb the market for another available tackle.
