Colts Projected to Sign Super Bowl Champion CB

The Indianapolis Colts could lose cornerback Kenny Moore II this offseason. But Pro Football Network's Dallas Robinson suggested the Colts as a fit for a different cornerback in NFL free agency.

Robinson predicted the Colts to target veteran defensive back Kendall Fuller.

"Although the Colts have historically been reticent to actively participate in free agency, this might be the time for GM Chris Ballard to make a move," wrote Robinson. "Indianapolis has the sixth-most cap space in the NFL, Anthony Richardson on a rookie quarterback contract, and clear needs on its depth chart.

"Adding a veteran cornerback to complement a young group of defensive backs might be the play, and Kendall Fuller stands out as a fit for Indy. No defense played more Cover 3 than Gus Bradley’s Colts last season, while Fuller’s passer rating allowed was nearly 50 points better in zone coverage versus man."

Originally a third-round pick for the Washington Redskins in 2016, Fuller has played his entire career with Washington and the Kansas City Chiefs. He helped the Chiefs win their first Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes in 2019.

Since then, Fuller returned to Washington to again become a starter with the Commanders.

Fuller has started 93 contests in his career. In 117 games overall, he has posted 486 combined tackles, including 14 tackles for loss. He has also recorded 75 pass defenses and 16 interceptions.

Last season, he had 79 combined tackles, 9 pass defenses and 2 interceptions in 15 games.

Spotrac projected Fuller's market value to be roughly $42.3 million on a 3-year contract this offseason. Such a deal would give Fuller an average annual salary of $14.1 million.

According to Spotrac, the Colts have more than $66 million in cap space.

In addition to Moore, veteran cornerback Tony Brown is a free agent for the Colts. Indianapolis doesn't have a cornerback older than 24 who played at least 26% of the team's defensive snaps on the roster for next season.

Signing Fuller would provide the Colts depth and valuable veteran experience at cornerback.
