Chiefs' Mahomes makes this personality’s Mount Rushmore of QBs
Tina MacIntyre-Yee /Rochester Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK

It’s undeniable that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is quickly becoming one of the greatest signal-callers ever. At 28 years old, he has won two MVPs, two Super Bowls, and throws for 40 or more touchdowns twice. However, the idea of him already being a top-four quarterback just seven seasons into his pro career seems wild unless you are Fox Sports’ Nick Wright. The TV personality took to the show First Things First on Wednesday, calling Mahomes a top-four quarterback since the NFL merger.

Fox Sports Personality Nick Wright: Believes Mahomes is Already Top 4

On his show First Things First, Wright revealed his top 15 quarterbacks since the NFL-AFL merger. The pyramid tier list does not include those who played before the merger, like Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Otto Graham.

Wright said on his show, “The Mount Rushmore, along with (Joe) Montana, Patrick Mahomes and Peyton Manning. Mahomes has two MVPs, three Super Bowl appearances, and two championships, and we will probably add to that in a few weeks. Peyton Manning has five MVPs, four appearances, two rings, and at the top, with cartoonish numbers, Tom Brady. Three league MVPs, ten Super appearances, and seven rings.”

Mahomes is already one of ten players ever to win multiple MVPs. He remains one of a handful of quarterbacks to win multiple Super Bowls. The Texas Tech product has won the Super Bowl or the MVP in all but two of his seasons starting, excluding 2023.

Wright also has Joe Montana, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning on his Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks. All four quarterbacks have won multiple MVPs and Super Bowls. However, Brady triumphs overall, winning the big game seven times.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes: Picked Over Dan Marino, John Elway, Aaron Rodgers

Wright picked Mahomes over three all-timers, Dan Marino, John Elway, and Aaron Rodgers. Marino led the league in passing yards and touchdowns three times while winning the MVP in 1984. Elway won two Super Bowls and an MVP. Meanwhile, Rodgers has dominated during his time in the NFL, winning four MVPs and being named All-Pro four times. However, he has just one Super Bowl win.
