Chiefs interested in CB Stephon Gilmore, RB Ronald Jones, WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

When the Kansas City Chiefs traded away star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday for five draft picks, it naturally gave the team a significant number of options as to how to spend the millions of dollars in savings. As news of the trade was coming to light, there were also reports that wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling — a burner himself — was visiting with Kansas City on Wednesday.

Apparently, "MVS" is far from the only notable name that the Chiefs are eyeing.

Valdes-Scantling has been somewhat of a "feast or famine" wideout since being selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Packers. Through 59 games in his first four years in the league, MVS has 123 receptions for 2,153 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns but has had issues with drops, as evidenced by his 49.8% career catch percentage.

Another member of the draft class of 2018, Jones has also been with one team for his entire career, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After seeing limited playing time as a rookie behind Peyton Barber and splitting carries with Barber in 2019, "RoJo" was Tampa Bay's starting running back in 2020 until suffering a late-season injury and giving way to Leonard "Playoff Lenny" Fournette in the postseason.

Still, Jones was able to post career-highs in rushing attempts (192), rushing yards (978) and rushing touchdowns (seven) in 2020, adding 35 carries for 139 yards in the playoffs. The 24-year-old finished the 2021 campaign with 101 rushing attempts for 428 yards and four scores.

Across his 10 seasons split between the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and, most recently, the Carolina Panthers, Gilmore has racked up two First-Team All-Pro nods and five Pro Bowl honors, and he was named the 2019 AP Defensive Player of the Year. The 31-year-old led the NFL in passes defended and tied for the lead in interceptions the year he won Defensive Player of the Year with 20 and six, respectively.
