Chargers Offensive Line Might Lose Two Starters For Showdown With Broncos
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers could be in some deep trouble come Sunday, as they are set for a hugely important divisional game and one that could determine their trip to the postseason.

The Chargers are set to take on the Broncos, who are also vying for a coveted wildcard playoff spot, and they are currently three spots ahead of the Bolts. Divisional games are always tough, but this one will be more so considering both teams want to make it to the postseason.

The injury bug has certainly been an issue for the Chargers, as they have seen players from both sides of the ball miss crucial games. This Sunday could spell trouble for the offensive line, which is already down Corey Linsley.

Both Trey Pipkins III and Zack Bailey have appeared on the injury report, with Bailey's status being far more concerning. Bailey is suffering from a back injury, and not practicing two days in a row could mean that he will not be able to suit up against the Broncos.

Pipkins has been limited both Wed and today, and his status might be a bit more guaranteed. Pipkins is nursing a wrist injury, which might be far more manageable than Bailey's back.

Should Bailey and Pipkins be asked to step aside, it will leave the Chargers with Foster Sarell as the right tackle. Most linemen train for other positions, so there could be some reshuffling going on if the situation gets that dire.

The Bolts certainly need a better offensive line in place if they are to protect Justin Herbert and pump some much-needed fuel into their ailing run game. Head coach Brandon Staley is currently flirting with the idea of changing the run game to feature Joshua Kelley more, but he will have nowhere to run if the line does not do its job.

The Chargers need to win out if they are to boost their 10% chance of making the playoffs and having a weak offensive line is a sure-fire way to struggle. The hope is that things can begin to gel, and the Bolts can walk away with a hugely important win.
