Buccaneers roasted for ugly QB battle between Baker Mayfield, Kyle Trask

Remember when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl with none other than Tom Brady at quarterback? That must seem like a long time ago for Buccaneers fans, especially if they've gotten a peak at the quarterback "competition" between this season's potential starters: Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask.

Mayfield is, of course, the controversial former No. 1 overall pick of the Cleveland Browns who was ultimately discarded after he never lived up to his Heisman trophy-winning career at Oklahoma. Trask was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Bucs, but he's played in only one game and has just nine career passing attempts and 23 passing yards to his name.

Perhaps a case can be made that those nine attempts are better than Mayfield's 102-to-64 career touchdown-to-interception ratio. A case can also be made that the Buccaneers are entering into scary territory this season at quarterback because the returns haven't been all that inspiring at OTAs.

Specifically, the internet had fun with this clip from practice that went viral:

And here's the response:

The Buccaneers will play at the Minnesota Vikings to start the 2023 season. One of these two quarterbacks will likely be the starter, which isn't good news for Tampa.
