Bryce Young’s teammate has to save QB from near blunder

Bryce Young is clearly going through some growing pains in his rookie season. The Carolina Panthers quarterback nearly committed a novice mistake on Monday night during his team’s clash against the New Orleans Saints at Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.

The Panthers were down 13-6 and facing 3rd-and-3 with 6:20 left in the game at the Saints’ 13-yard line. Young, possibly either distracted or a little bit too locked in, was seen lining up behind the right guard Calvin Throckmorton instead of center Bradley Bozeman.

Panthers running back Miles Sanders had to give Young a nudge to the left to get the QB back to proper alignment.

Perhaps the near-mistake rattled Young a bit, as the rookie took a sack that pushed the Panthers back five yards. What appeared to be a four-down series for Carolina in trying to score a game-tying touchdown turned into a field goal. The Saints would score a touchdown on their ensuing possession.

Young would manage to bounce back with a touchdown pass in his team’s next drive. But with little time left on the clock, the score proved to be too late as the Panthers lost 20-17 to the Saints.

Young went 22-of-33 for 153 yards and 1 touchdown as Carolina dropped to 2-0.
