Browns officially waive former Pro Bowl WR Odell Beckham Jr.

The Cleveland Browns confirmed ahead of the weekend and before Sunday's game at the Cincinnati Bengals they would be parting ways with Odell Beckham Jr. less than a week after the former Pro Bowl wide receiver was officially targeted just once during a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cleveland smashed Cincinnati 41-16 and celebrated improving to 5-4 on the season by officially waiving Beckham on Monday, per Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com. Because the transaction occurred after last Tuesday's trade deadline, Beckham is subject to waivers and can be claimed. However, it's widely believed the 29-year-old will hit free agency this week and, thus, be able to sign with any team he wants.

The New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions are among clubs that have already confirmed they're not claiming Beckham, who reportedly has $7.25 million of salary attached to him if he doesn't become a free agent.

Thus far, Beckham has just 17 catches for 232 yards with no touchdowns this season. Justin Terranova of the New York Post wrote that the three-time Pro Bowl selection wants to sign with the Saints, Seattle Seahawks, or San Francisco 49ers if he has a choice in the matter, and Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports suggested Beckham could cause a problem if he's claimed, particularly by a team that has little-to-no chance of winning anything of note by February.
