Browns add intriguing defender to their roster amidst injuries
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

With some injuries along the Cleveland Browns defensive line, they’ve made a roster move within.

Cleveland has called up DE Sam Kamara from the practice squad, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN who first reported it.

Along the defensive line, DE Ogbo Okornkwo suffered a groin injury against the Jaguars and DT Jordan Elliott left the game into concussion protocol.

Kamara can ideally play inside or out. He is listed as a defensive end but weighing in at 272 pounds, Kamara has the ability to play the 3-tech for the Browns in place of Elliott if needed. He at least adds another option there.

The injury status of Okoronkwo and Elliott will be updated by Kevin Stefanski tomorrow likely at practice, along with S Grant Delpit who suffered a groin injury against the Jaguars.

Kamara led all defensive linemen in pressures during the preseason this year with the Chicago Bears. Having played his college ball at Stony Brook, Kamara is in his second NFL season. Kamara originally signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent and played in 10 games as a rookie.

Last season, Kamara played in one game with the Browns but did not record a stat. Chicago had hoped to bring him back to the practice squad following roster cutdowns back in August, but he ended up with Cleveland.

A Tuesday roster move for the Browns ahead of their Week 15 game is interesting when you factor in it as the Bears coming to Cleveland.
